The Third Woman is an interactive mobile film–game, updating post-war themes found in director Carol Reeds 1949 The Third Man Film. Our global art/science team, brought together by the eMobilart initiative, created an interactive movie with performance/art installation interventions. The movie is projected on wall sites so that people can download film clips to their cell phones, interact with the scenario, and alter the filmic outcome.
Pia Tikka and Martin Rieser wrote the film/script portraying the new conflicts and corruptions of the 21st century. Performance interventions and sema-code patterned objects, (that allow blue tooth access) are scattered around the site, enticing visitors to seek and find, click, on a sema-code image, and download a film clip to their mobile phones. Searching for clues around the space, participants follow the trail of the bio-agent called Miasma. They can upload their own scenarios they may choose to re-order from the database of sequenced versions, create content altering the outcome, and prevent further tragic results that the mysterious substance causes in public spaces. When the Third Woman is found, the Gamer's discoveries are rewarded with the expanding of reserves to immunities from diseases.
