Since stepping onto the music scene as a young teenager, New Orleans born rapper Curren$y has remained consistent in handling his business. The fruits of his labor were made evident in this mini three part rock-u-series starring Curren$y, Nesby Phips, Big K.R.I.T. and Big Sant. The crew gathered in Atlanta, Georgia’s Cloud IX venue to celebrate Curren$y’s newly released album entitled “Pilot Talk”, which dropped July 13, 2010. “Pilot Talk” is the first album to emerge from Damon Dash’s newly formed DD172 record label better known as BlueRoc Records. Our crew was lucky enough to capture a few raw cuts from some of the Indie Music scene’s most welcomed talent. The first installment depicts Nesby Phips bringing the Chi to open up a phenomenal night of Hip-Hop from a few Southern Greats. Distributed through Def Jam Recordings, “Pilot Talk” debuted at number 39 on the Billboard 200, and it sold just over 10,764 copies its first week. Long gone are the days where old barriers can continue to exist in Hip-Hop. Marginalization and regionalization are no longer needed.
