Argentina is famous for its amazing beef, and—not surprisingly—the country produces some of the world's best leather as well. Founded in 2000 by brothers Diego and Sebastian Smolkin, Milla Leather Design is a stellar example of the quality leather that can be found throughout the country. The duo began by producing leather jackets but quickly branched out and started offering leather handbags and accessories as well. From its large wholesale showroom in Palermo with exposed-brick walls and comfy couches, guests are welcome to leisurely browse the vast array of merchandise. Supple leather can be found everywhere you look, from the jackets lining the walls to the bags filling the shelves. In addition to the traditional browns and blacks usually associated with leather goods, Milla's jackets, bags and accessories are available in a wide variety of colors. Vibrant blues and yellows are juxtaposed with soft pinks and lavenders. Fiery reds and soft greens hang among the neutral grays and creams. Classic styles hang next to punk-inspired studded jackets and vests, resulting in a collection that caters to customers of all ages and tastes. And if you don't see exactly what you're looking for, don't fret. Jackets can be made to order, which I took advantage of during my first visit: they had gray, I wanted black. A week later my wish was granted.
Milla Leather Design is located at Pacheco de Melo 2945.
