Todd was attacked by a 3,000 pound Great White while surfing in in California, on August 28, 2007. When Todd was struggling for life, a pod of Bottlenose Dolphins intervened and formed a wall around the injured surfer giving him a split second to escape the jaws of the 17 foot shark.

Todd was immediately helped by three heroic surfers, given first aid, then air lifted to a trauma center where he was not expected to live. Todd had lost half of his blood and after a grueling five and a half hour surgery, during which he received 700 sutures, he miraculously recovered to tell his story.
