The last few days have been hectic weather wise, so I figured it would be a good time to upload some clips of sunnier times..

i love when you post these. i like how the birds look at the other birds approaching.

i wonder if the birds get stung by the bees? and if they do, how do they handle it?

because of these videos, hummingbirds are now my favorite!

    Quality hummer footage.
  • goldentouchfarm plus 1 year ago
Thank you much Lucasberg! It is because of your macro insect shots that I will be upgrading this fall in preparation for even higher quality captures next Spring/Summer.

I know this sight... I know the high pitched twitter of hummingbirds flitting about the feeder. You boil water and mix sugar every other day, don't you? I actually have such a video in low-def on my hard drive right now. Feeling a bond with you. :)

I wish it was every other day! I am currently filling 5 feeders at least once a day. I am working on the math to figure out what kind of population I am actually supporting.

I like it when they pass behind the feeder and you get some distorted imagery. Great quality here! The hornets added another element that was interesting!
  • goldentouchfarm plus 1 year ago
Thanks nshack for the kind words! I am so spoiled having a feeder right outside my office window. At any given point throughout the day I can stare out there and see activity at the feeders, I love sharing my view with the rest of the vimeo community!

  • Very great Video!
    Thanks!

In Italy those birds are namely: Colibrì :-)

I don't like bees, Seems that those birds don't like bees too! :-D

Thanks for the Compliments! They actually are yellow jackets, a type of wasp, and they give Bees a bad name. Honey Bees will almost never sting unless it's their last resort, where as wasps and yellow jackets will bite and sting with little provocation.

This is quite beautiful. Something about the way hummingbirds move is so lovely.
  • goldentouchfarm plus 1 year ago
Thanks! We are truly spoiled to have such active feeders. When our neighbors come over and see them, they realize where all their hummers ended up!

That was beautiful! Funny thing, this video is almost crisper than the summer activity around the REAL HB feeder I have hanging outside my window!
  • goldentouchfarm plus 1 year ago
Thanks for the kind words! This Winter we are looking into upgrading to an even better camera so next season's should prove to be even better than Life Like!
  • Lisa Kehler 1 year ago
what kind of camera are you using now and what are you planning to upgrade to?
  • goldentouchfarm plus 1 year ago
This was shot with the Canon TX1, and we are looking at upgrading to a Canon HV20 or HV30
