John Andrew Jakovac: Story of a LRRP
More
High school project by Allison Johnston about John Andrew Jakovac and LRRP Team 3A. The entire team was lost on 30 May 1967 when ambushed by North Vietnamese and VC soldiers. Sorry the picture quality and sound are not always as good as they might be, but it was as good as she could get.

A meticulously researched and difficult subject; a forcefulness stemming from honesty and absence of artifice.
As Ray Anderson said, as long as there are individuals like Allison, and high schools capable of stimulating and encouraging them, not only is there little to worry about where the quality of US education is concerned: there's little to worry about where the quality of America itself is concerned.
Thanks to Allison for a uniquely special achievement, and to Chris for making it accessible here.
I am a VN Vet and Vietnamese Linguist. I worked as a POW/MIA investigator from 1992-1994. The team I was on investigated this case the first time in June 1992 and got the basic information on the ambush and general area of burial.
While investigating another case in another province nearby a year later we got more detailed information from the commander of the Provincial recon unit that conducted the ambush. This information led to the recovery/excavation that was conducted in 1994 and found the remains of our guys.
Believe me this was the highlight of my time with POW/MIA bringing these three soldiers home. I've often wondered about them and more details of their lives and getting this young ladies story tonight from a Vet friend has really answered that.
Thank you Allison and thank your father for having this deep interest in this story and in our MIA's.
