very nice reel, I'm impressed - although seeing the Newcastle scenes did make me feel a little homesick as well as seeing how much has changed!

    Nice one John :)
  • John Graeme Morris 3 months ago
Cheers mate, glad you like it. Yep, Newcastle has changed a lot in recent years... hardly recognize it.

How long do you normally shoot at each location?
  • John Graeme Morris 3 months ago
Usually and hour or so for daytime shoots. Night shoots take longer because you have to keep the shutter open for 20 to 30 seconds each exposure, so you can only get two frames per minute maximum. The night shots of the Colosseum took to 2/3 hrs.

Thanks Brian. I am lucky that I spend my time split between Newcastle and Rome, so spoiled for choice location wise.

Great job on this. It's the best timelapse that I've seen that was done with DSLRs. The music goes very well with it too.

John these are fantastic. I'm hoping to do some timelapse in a film I'm making on a HDV cam. I have a Fuji Finepix F9500 which can shoot in raw. I was wondering if I could use that? How many pics do you take per min? Oh, and what is a PCLIX Inervalometer? Is it hardware or software?
  • John Graeme Morris 2 months ago
Hi Steve. Thanks for your comment. Just sent you a message with answers to some of your questions.

Hi, you definitely capture the soul of Sage Music Center building. I am trying out some time lapse movie too, but the shots exposure seems some vary because of the lighting. how can you equalize the exposure among shots? thx.

Awesome stuff, how many shots per segment do you average to get such a great time lapse? Also, just a suggestion... as nice as it is to know what location you are shooting I found the name titles distracting from the fantastic images.
  • John Graeme Morris 1 month ago
Thanks Jesse. I always try and get at least ten seconds worth of time lapse at any location. This equates to 250 still images/frames (as I work in PAL).

Tried to make the titles as unobtrusive as poss, but point taken.

Thats some really smooth stuff. A lot of time lapse is not nearly as interesting as this. I love how much you are focusing on long exposures and light lines as definition of space. I look forward to seeing more as well!
