Boy! did this take some sorting out.

Why is it that the Pond 1 video was quite acceptable, and this took many renders and submissions to get it half decent. I found that the scenes were heavily pixelated, even though I originally used the same render settings as Pond 1?

Anyhow, this is the best of a bad bunch of uploaded efforts.

This video was not at all planned. I was shooting the Moorhens and saw a ripple in the water at a distance.

I had been on site for around three hours, and noticed that the ripples were gradually coming towards me. Using the XH-A1 as a monocular I discovered that I was the honoured guest of two magnificent Carp, they were asking for a framing, so I obliged.

The camera had difficulty on occasion with focussing, which is understandable due to the nature of the auto-focus system. I switched to manual focus but could not get on with the 'spongy' delayed reaction of the servo, so I switched back to auto-focus and let the cam take control.

oooh the two carps coming together is definitely a cool shot. I'm not sure why this version didn't render as clean as the other either but I see what you mean.
I'm sure you'll figure it out though. There are nice shots here and and in the part 1 so when the whole thing comes together I think it will be look rather splendid! because the footage is there!

Many thanks Maria for the comments, they are always valued by me.

I tried your suggestion about colour correction in this video, in two places.

The sun was in and out like a fiddler's elbow whilst I was taking the shots, in fact it looks like the footage was compiled from several visits, whereas the whole Carp video was taken within one hour.

In one scene, where the Carp comes close, the bottom of the pond was showing a bright orange/brown colour due to a very bright spell, I took some red out to try and balance this.

The other scene was an approaching carp was just visible due to an overcast sky, so I played with the brightness and contrast to try and lift the Carp from the water.

You see, I do take your comments very seriously, as they help me to further my competence with the SVP editing software.

I shall keep on trying to improve this footage, as I feel that the content deserves no less than my best effort. I just need the spare time to devote to the task.

The shot where the Carp merge and face left, is by far my favourite shot, I think that it arouses the romantic within the viewer, so nice to know that someone has seen the same as me here.

I also like the way in which this video confuses the senses, when viewed side on these fish look so sleek and slender, but when they turn away from, or in to, shot they look extremely fat.

The truth is that they are a fat fish, they are very deep bellied also, it is the water that creates this effect of course. Oh for an underwater camera housing in crystal clear waters like these.

Look at what you've got me doing now! I'm writing a darned article. Sorry about the length of this response, just look at the quality lol.

Thanks for stopping by and taking time to comment Maria.
