1 year ago
adobe.com/products/premiere/switch/ ^^^ This is the first Premiere Pro vs Final Cut Pro shootout held at the LA Post Production Group Meetup ( LAPPG.com ). The contestants were given 9 tasks to complete in 15 min. Premiere Pro CS5 was completed long before Final Cut Pro. Enjoy.

    LOL - what I expected. Is there any detailed information?

    Thanks for sharing, Frank

  • Good video to showcase the differences, but the automatic audio gain makes it a hard listen!

    Thanks for the upload.

    Yes so sorry for the audio. For some reason the mixer in the software was acting up!

    Great comparison.Adobe has done a fabulous job in developing and improving time saving features.
    Simplified and users friendly doesn’t necessary means faster efficient work flows.

    @David,

    From what I can tell the software mixer is not the core of the problem. You need to mic up the demonstrators. (It sounded like the camera mic was used.)

    @Dale I agree, unfortunately we had no lavs. I was using wirecast and an maudio usb mixer, same set up i had at NAB. When we did a mic check 30 min in all seemed well. Once again my apologies for the bad sound!

    Nice video! I have been with Avid for ten+ years and listened to all the "depth", "feature rich", "user friendly" comments for FCP. Sad thing is I never considered Premier and got FCS3 and now I am kicking myself! Anybody want to buy my FCS3 so I can put forth the money towards one of the Adobe packages ;)?

    I finally made the decision to switch from FCP to Premiere CS5. Bye bye Apple. Here's my reasons: gracepointafterfive.com/im-through-with-final-cut-pro

    wow, thos were some good points, im still trying to decide weather to get premiere or fcs, i think im beginning to be swayed to get adobe premire, but fcp is still sick

    Apple has spent way too much time on iOS and all things portable. There has been a total of one upgrade to FCP in 4+ years. It wasn't even a big upgrade although it was priced correctly ($300). It is definitely lagging behind and it is showing its age. The next upgrade better be huge. All that being said Adobe overcharges for its upgrades ($700), they are way too close together and they don't contain that many new features for the price. I have clients that are still on CS3. The feature set for the upgrades are not worth the cost. Add that to the fact than none of my clients use Premiere and I need to stay compatible means I will be sticking with FCP at least for the near future. But Apple definitely has to impress me with the next release of FCP and it better be soon.

    Great video! Thanks for posting this and thanks Conrad for your blog post.

    I'm new to the whole video editing scene and I'm trying to decide which software to buy. My only question really is: Is there anything you can't do in Premiere that you can only do in FCP, and vice versa?
