Did you do that with an intervalometer or with a huge quantity of film?

As Scruff says - "masterful". Just f*ing masterful. So happy to have this video on Vimeo. The 3:00 mark was just thrilling.

This is my current #1 favorite on Vimeo! Oh, maybe we should introduce that type of feedback ;)

i'm very flattered by all the comments, thank you everyone.

If you like city symphony films you should check these out:

As Blake and Joe mentioned previously, "man with a movie camera" and "koyaanisqatsi" stand out as classics... there's a few other nice ones like "chronos" or "baraka". There's also an old Berlin city Symphony.

My latest favorite is D.A Pennebaker's "Daybreak Express".

Timelapse footage is always entertaining but i feel goes beyond if there is somewhat of a narrative.

    best,

    david

This is a great film. The shots are well composed. The juxtaposition of the figure of a man travelling at time-lapse speeds somehow illustrates the hectic pace of city life while humanizing the city at the same time. Brilliant. I love the scene of birds gliding on the air, followed by a complete plane trip as seen from the window over the plane wing. Also fond of the shot of escalator stairs as a still, then moving and spilling over the top. Are you a film school grad? If you're just self-taught, you've really got something and should keep it up.
