HV30+Brevis+Macro = Lazy Sunday Afternoon - HD
1 year ago
An overcast and rainy Sunday afternoon in our town. For some reason I happened to have my HV30+Brevis at home plus some lenses so my wife and I filled in part of the afternoon filming this little clip.
The HV30+Brevis combo keeps impressing me the more time I spend with it.
Not many wives would willingly submit themselves to a macro lens so extra credit to Katie for this one :)
Lenses used: 50mm 1.8 and 60mm 2.8 Macro
Music: Robert Plant & Alison Kraus "Stick With Me Baby" from their album "Raising Sand" - one of my favourite albums at the moment.

Thanks.
PS: your wife is a very beautiful model :-)
This is the 60mm macro lens that I used - kenrockwell.com/nikon/60mm-afd.htm
It's pretty awesome - the depth of field is so shallow it's difficult to focus but for stationary objects it's great.
Cheers,
Matthew.
Good stuff.
PS: How do you rate this camera, compared to your XH-A1?
The HV30 is an excellent camera. It's definitely not a replacement for the A1 by any means ... both of them have their different uses I guess.
I haven't really shot any footage with the HV30 'raw' as I've only used it attached to the Brevis. The HV30+Brevis is much easier to hand hold than the A1+Brevis.
The footage I've shot with each of them is fairly similar but the A1 gives you much more control over the image your shooting. The HV30 tends to blow out the highlights a lot more as well.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Matthew.
Very Nice shooting.
I'm pretty sure I shot this in Cinemode. I experimented around with a few of the different modes and decided to give it a go. Cinemode definitely shoots a lot flatter colourwise than TV mode.
Cheers,
Matthew.
We both are pretty lucky guys, my wife is happy to be front of the camera as well.
Btw good to see your cats.
Any particular shots that you're seeing the blurs on? I'm not picking up on anything - just bits and pieces out of focus ;)
Cheers,
Matthew.
could have been more ctas in there for me, they also look cute...:-)
Are you using rails/see the need to use rails with the HV30+Brevis? The only reason I'm considering switching to the Brevis is that it is more compact and doesn't require rails. Also the Brevis has less light loss.
I use the Redrock M2 currently and I love the images it produces (not as sharp as the Brevis, totally a preference/style thing), but in terms of practical use the Brevis might be a better option for me.
The Letus Mini might be worth looking into. It looks pretty small and is specifically designed for small cams like the HV30.
