The Malcolm X Grassroots Movement presented the 13th Annual Black August Hip Hop Concert this past week raising money and awareness of U.S. political prisoners. Over the years the event has sold out many venues from The Nokia Theater to the Bowery Ballroom.
This years head liners were Dead Prez, Pharoahe Monch, Cody Chestnutt, Homeboy Sandman, Sadat X of Brand Nubian, Divine of the Day, ADM, Hasan Salaam, Hakim Green, Akir, Kalae All Day, La Bruja, Lah Tere, and Bajah & the Dry Eye Crew.
Presented by The Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, one of their main goals is to spread the awareness of Black August via Hip-Hip to promote positivity by the multitudes. Producing shows internationally in Cuba, Venezula, Brazil, and parts of Africa. There are also MXGM chapters all over the US.
