The Cleveland Coalition produced an event at CSU to discuss how to integrate the Cleveland Casino into the existing urban fabric. There were four breakout sessions: Urban Connectivity, Economic Development, Built Form, and Programming. This is the Economic Development. The accompanying power point can be found at clevelandcoalition.org/category/collaborate/.
The Cleveland Coalition is a civic organization of Clevelanders working to create and sustain a more vibrant, healthy and connected community by building civic imagination, community participation and leadership capacity. Our events allow citizens to participate in policy discussionsand empower citizens to take action through our philosophy of: Educate. Collaborate. Act. The issues and ideas engaged by the Coalition focus on Quality of Life, Economic Innovation and Social Equity; the Coalition advocates for these issues through partnerships with existing institutions.
Our purpose behind the “Crooked River Gaming” event is to help make Cleveland’s new casino a vibrant element of the community. A well-planned casino could have a transformative impact on the city. The Coalition will host discussions and workshops on how this major project can best integrate itself within the existing city fabric. This discussion is not about whether or not casinos should exist. This discussion is about how we can make the casino successful not only for its owner and operator but also for the city of Cleveland.
