    Wonderful. :-)
    Works perfectly with Morricone.
    Never thought of that.
My first thought of a tune probably had been "Flying through the air" by Oliver Onions ;-)

thanks v much! wanted to use that track for ages!

Thank you, the truth is that's great because it gives you the video to SD or HD quality with little compression, I have not replaced a HD because there are many blog with this video and the HD is slow when playing from the Web, but Video of the original recording if it is to scan 1440x1080i HDV 25p.

I was there... i had the opportunity to meet you Philip!
    I live near there.
  • Philip Bloom plus 1 year ago
sorry i missed you John. where were you? On the Saturday I was doing the high shot. Scared the crap out of me!! It was dangerous everywhere. Director broke his wrist, I fell in with the lenses but bag saved them. Lost my £1000 Zeiss 100mm in the drink too!!
  • Maarten Toner plus 1 year ago
Ah, was going to ask how you manage to do so many setups in a location like that. With fear for life might be the answer I guess.

Another thing I can't figure, it looks like you had a long lens but it doesn't "look" like a really long lens. Did you zoom in on the ground glass to get closer in some shots?

What I really like about this is the timeless feeling, it all looks innocent and old fashioned. Perhaps because there are no giant sponsor logo's plastered allover the rocks.

Anyway curious to know what lenses you used and if you zoomed in on the GG, would like to know how much you can get away with considering the new optics. As for loosing a Zeiss... that's just not funny, it is gone or just drowned?
  • John Hope 1 year ago
Sorry for your lens and for the director. That place is really scaring! I was there at the end of the "show"
  • Philip Bloom plus 1 year ago
i was often stopped down on the long 400mm to get perfect sharpness. Also zoomed it quite often! Lens is dead. Getting a new one on insurance.

Great location and subject matter. However, the yellow tint was a bit heavy on some of the shots. Especially skin looks a bit weird with that tint...
  • Philip Bloom plus 1 year ago
fair enough. it is one of my fav looks, but in couple of shots it is a bit strong

    Really cool Phillip.
I'm particularly fond of the shots from the top, as the divers disappear without panning. Fantastic!

In my last video it took everything I had to keep from panning and let the subject move in the frame. (all handheld) Thanks for the lesson!

Philip- Greetings from L.A. Another nice piece of work. Well done! I wish occasionally you would mix in just a little bit of ambient sound, just occasionally. I see you shot this with the EX-1. Didn't Sony give you an EX-3 for doing that great review not long ago? They really should have! Larry Schutte

Phil, I was really hoping you would have put your camera / letus in a plastic bag and had a "chase shot" of one of the dives. You could have jumped off along side one of the divers. I'm sure it would have worked out fine ;) heehee... seriously though, as everyone else has already stated, simply brilliant work as always.

Thanks for sharing Philip. I noticed many of the divers were going into the water feet first. Is this intentional or part of some regulation? The Olympic diving I've seen on TV is hands first. Just curious.

    Amazing work!
I also love the feel of something amazing happening without sponsor logos splattered everywhere.
    The disappearing shots were priceless!
Only comment I could make was that sometimes it felt like you were chasing behind them as they fell.

Sorry about the lens - that's gotta hurt. Glad to hear the insurance got it. Well done risking your life for great shots!

Not being one with a head for heights I watched that with slightly clammy palms and a wide open mouth. Those divers are obviously true daredevils, but to find out that the film maker is too adds an unbeatable dimension.

That was an extremely absorbing film and life affirming in a way that makes you want to achieve something lasting and worthwhile. That's inspiration.

    Terrifyingly terrific stuff, Philip.

I just loved the plot in there. I think is one of your works I enjoyed the most. Maybe cause I loved the music :)

One quick question. I'm getting the ex3 in a couple of days, mostly for ENG, and wondered what kind of storage system you use in tapeless workflow? something you might recommend pretty cheap :) cause i'm broke after that camera
