hands free is very cool :-)
wow, talk about one sweet product. Amazing !, I can't get over just HOW smooth the rail is, and the build quality is superior to any I've seen at this rail size. Beautiful !
Unikt, you can use two tripods, a c-stand, a 75/100mm ball directly to sticks etc. to support the rig. The vast majority of folks using Atlas, use what's on hand to support the rig. Two chairs, two french doors half opened (slider on top of doors), table tops, floors, counter-tops etc. are common supports. For studio use, we typically put a 100mm ball at both ends and drop these directly onto sticks for a very solid base. This way, your tripod head can go on the slider via its 100mm bowl.
Thanks all for your kind comments :-)
Cheers,
Dennis Wood

How much clearance is left underneath the rails with the bowl head attached?
Adam, David and Peter use a variety of lenses (wide angle zoom, 50mm prime, 70-200 etc), but more importantly, graduated/ND filters. This allows them to dial in the correct f/stop and shutter combination to get the depth and motion blur they're looking for. Both have won multiple awards for cinematography (both have strong film backgrounds) and as you can see...they really know their stuff :-)
Philip, say hi to our pal Vinny (Minton I'm assuming..). We're looking forward to the House episode (airing this fall) that he helped shoot!
Mark, depending on the all-terrain leg setting, you'd have from about 1 to 4 inches under our 100mm ball "nut". We've sorted things out so you should never touch anyone's expensive table top. The all-terrain legs do offer more clearance than the old "claw" type leg, and quite frankly, we're going to phase the old leg style out as the all-terrain setup is far more popular (and usefull too).
Cheers,
Dennis

just wondering about the new cyclops rigs that are coming out. are they going to have the top handle option like the core. i think it's such a smart design but i want to wait to get it to see what the cyclops rigs you're talking about have to offer. are they as compact as the core? one thing holding me back from core is the weight. one of the reasons we use the 5d system is because it is so compact. can you give any hints if these new rigs will be lighter? also love the top handle design. i wanted to know if you are going to offer the matte box with a top handle option. buying the separate bits was more than $300 extra. be nice if there was just the top handle + matte box option. i know a lot of people would buy that.
Imp, thanks for the referral :-)
Dianne, Cyclops uses fibre-reinforced composite so is very strong, and very light. Adding the Medusa cage option ends up providing a top handle, and would be the lightest (but very strong) rig we're capable of. Add in the shoulder rig and counter-balance and you've got a full DSLR rig basically with every option that we could conceive of. We're anticipating the rig will be quite popular :-)
Cheers,
Dennis.
Diane, Cyclops videos are loaded and will be public next week...so you'll see what we've been up to.
