Sally Dutko is a fabric artist from Ithaca NY and a member of the "Quilt Divas" (thequiltdivas.com) - an association of quilt & fabric artists from the Fingerlakes region of Upstate New York.
The Quilt Divas created an art quilt to benefit the "Dining for Women" charity (diningforwomen.org) - an organization of women helping women that donates funds to charities that empower women & girls throughout the developing world.
Sally created a panel inspired by the Uganda-based "Bead for Life" program (beadforlife.org, where women learn to support themselves and their families by creating art beads from recycled paper.
During this interview Sally discusses why she chose the "Bead for Life" as her inspiration, and how she created her panel by combining abstract fabric art, fabric images of the beaders, and "Bead For Life" bead samples.
