And on Sunday in Jakarta Indonesians and Japanese got together in a festival of song and dance to celebrate 50 years of friendship. Our Indonesian team went to visit and learned a few steps... Japanese-style.
STORY:
The festival was organized by the Jakarta Japan Club Foundation.

While fireworks illuminate the sky Indonesian singers dressed in traditional Japanese costumes played some of their most popular hits. And then came the highlight of the evening. People from both countries formed a circle and joined hands for a traditional Japanese folk dance. Strangers one minute ago…now, the best of friends.

According to a survey conducted two years ago, there are about 11,000 Japanese living in Indonesia.

In 1958 Indonesia and Japan signed a peace treaty establishing strong economic and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
