This Maliko run by Bill Boyum is the first video I've seen that gives some idea what a good downwinder is like. Video cameras make swells look unimpressive, because the wide angle lenses flatten the gradual rise of the swell. A 20 foot swell that would scare the heck out of you in the water looks like a little gentle hill. This is a summer run, so the big groundswells out of the north are not present, and the swells look medium sized, but at least you can see why we love this new sport.
