Hi people! long time no post, I was busy finishing my film Khoda for about a year. here is the new project I have just finished in my spare times in Ink Digital, the new company that I have just started working in.

The film was an experimental work based on a new track by Hamed Mafakheri.

I used my camcorder Sony HDR-HC7 for filming it,

Enjoy!

this is soooo awesome. i love how the music works with the footage. the hi tech feel worked unexpectedly well with the octopus shots. i also really loved the light effects during the credits.

  • You made my day. This is perfect, audiovisual design of highest quality. So great, and inspiring.

I ask myself, where the hell did you get a octopus? Ha ha!

    Thanks for sharing this!
  • Reza Dolatabadi 1 year ago
it was a small octopus, I bought from a shop (Tesco). it was also dead and and a bit biger than a lighter.

    Cheers;)
  • I guessed it was dead yes, but so small? Crazy!
I was always fascinated by octopuses, I used them as inspiration in many many illustrations, so this is nice to see. might try this sometime in my video work. hehe :)

    Thanks again, great work.

I think it superb, only one thing, found the midle a bit the same for a while, but going to the end is gets mindblowing!

That really is amazing, from the time spent to the finished product. I cant imagine the amount of patience and time it took to complete. How long did it take to film, animate and edit with music after you had painted all of the paintings?
  • Reza Dolatabadi 8 months ago
thanks it took me about 25 days from begging to the end. we didn't have much to do at ink (studio), so i just started doing this.

don`t know why this reminds me of Apex Twin - Rubber Johnny, cool you did a nice movie ; bdw was that octopus dead or alive ?
  • Reza Dolatabadi 8 months ago
I know, I have admitted to everyone that it is very close to that video, but my intention wasn't to make something like that. basically i had a dead octopus a jar of water, music track and my camera to play with.

the octopus was dead and it was about a finger and a half long (from one leg end to the other)

Definitely feeling the Aphex Twin aura. (:

I dont know aura, but i think its more like Junny robber. I am a fan of Cunningham, but I did what I would have done even if I have never seen that video.

    Thanks

hey, sorry for the delay, yes I've seen it. when I was working on this film my colleague showed me this. I thought god damn it, someone did exactly what I wanted to do. but by then, I was in the middle of it
I didn't get inspired by EEL. I got inspired by the objects I had in my flat + the little dead octo that I bought from the super market. it was just filming and applying effect and going with the flow, if you know what I mean. but thanks for the comment though.

    ok visually nice but,
in first, i see a dead animal there, wich used to be a wonderful creature, and now is reduced to a Form.
If you would do same with a cat, the video would be about dead and tortur and surely not named "kitty dance"
  •
  • Reza Dolatabadi 6 months ago
lol well, there is a very good reason why you can't buy cats in brine anywhere in Britain. heh, I know it is a bad thing to play with your food.
  • Geoff A Charters 5 months ago
I once had 13 cats. They are pretty cool animals. I'm not sure what Thorsten means.
  • Luke Perkin plus 5 months ago
Shaweet! I find it similar to the opening titles of Se7en.
    Very well composed.

I actually found a dead cat on my drive today, I considered "kitty dance" but after having to shovel it into the nearby field because it had rigor mortis I though i'd best not...

The second half especially starts to get very interesting. I am excited to see more of your stuff, although judging by your other work it will probably be years before you finish another piece.
  • Reza Dolatabadi 5 months ago
thanks, I'm working on few things right now. there is a chance that I finish a music vid in few months. but you are right, I don't direct all the time. although I'm usually busy on helping on other people/companies projects. thanks again.

    Amazing! I really like it.
I've been wanting to film an octopus for some time now, but a live one is really incredibly terribly hard to obtain, even for a couple days...
