**I uploaded this last night and noticed some audio drift this morning. After verifying that the source was fine, and up uploading to YouTube was fine, I realized it had to be my compression settings. Yep. I was not using Vimeo's recommended audio codec. Hopefully it works now.**
I received my Samson H1 unit today and I couldn't wait to get home and test it out. I've never set my gear up to shoot myself, and I kind of just went for it. First time was much better than I expected! Although I needed my dog as a prop lol.
I got everything ready, hit record on the camera, then record on the H1, got in place, snapped my finger to create a starting point, and got to business. In the near silence of my bedroom the snap was plenty to synch the audio. I'll synch this way as long as I can, but I don't have any issue using Plural Eyes sometime in the near future too.
My camera was on a tripod about five feet away, and the H1 was mounted on a small tripod a couple feet in front of me. I'll be testing differences in distance, as well as outdoor sound, coming up in the next couple of weeks.
I have never used another external mic, so I don't have a lot to compare to, but I hope this will be a good piece of equipment for my grab and go kind of ideas.
Cheech suddenly thinks he's a star, and refuses to be in any more of my test videos without a Milk Bone.
Thanks for watching!
