A short documentary about the rise of computers in the DJ game.
"Historically, DJs had to pay their dues by digging for records and shelling out money for them. Now, an upstart DJ can download a top shelf music collection from the Internet in a short time and with little expense.
A popular software program called Scratch Live, allows DJs to replace their vinyl records with digital audio files, eliminating the need to carry heavy crates of records to and from gigs. A DJ can have his or her entire music collection stored on a laptop computer.
Technologystolemyvinyl examines the way in which computer software has transformed the art of making people dance.
Filmed in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2009 by Adalena Franford. Produced by me.
