During an outbreak of the Pest in 1563 the cemeteries became so full that it was necessary to open this cemetery outside of the city walls. It was expanded in the 1840s and became the central cemetery in Munich. It was used up to up to 1944 when burials were stopped there. It contains many notable Munich citizens including, Josef von Frauenhofer, Alois Senefelder and Georg Ohm. It is now a favourite place to walk, jog or just to relax, read the newspaper or meditate.
I took a series of photographs here and put some of them together in this video. I shot it using a Nikon D300, edited the images in Capture One and cut them in Final Cut Pro.
