In January, the city completed a project to redirect nuisance groundwater from the foundation of the convention center, where it is treated and used in the HemisFair outdoor fountains. Replacing potable water with this previously unused supply, the city conserves 32 million gallons of drinking water per year and saves taxpayers almost $200,000 a year on the water bill.
