To Art School!

In 1990, while on staff at the San Francisco Art Institute, Joell Hallowell and Jacalyn White were given the opportunity to edit a vintage circa 1940s recruitment film into a new, updated version. Along with a team of fellow filmmakers and co-workers, they shot new footage, collected current student artwork and videos, and spent a long summer integrating new footage into the old. Now, twenty years later, this film has itself become an artifact of times past—of an art world that has quickly moved on.
