I'd always wanted to make a one shot video, no cuts each scene flowing into the next. I love films like this, as the time passes quickly and you get taken in and transported somewhere else. This track with its slow pace came along and gave me the opportunity to achieve this.
Tag a Meer translated means A Day at the Sea and is by a band that is maybe not to well known in UK but who are huge in Germany.
My knowledge at the time of the German music industry meant I had never heard of them.
They were great performers and it was one of the few times when 'bring your own clothes' paid off.
I think it really helps the performances and video when a band has written their own song, something that doesn't always happen. I've actually done videos where the vocalist (i.e. good looking girl) has never before heard the song until they've turned up on set. This video really worked out, and I believe it was music video of the year in Germany.
At the time I was doing all my own post production, something that can be very stressy. This was completed in one burst of 50 hours without sleep, on the Quantel Harry. A machine with 2 and a half minutes storage and only single layer capability. Happy Days!
