Two priority intermodal trains meet at the station in Ashland, VA on August 2, 2008.
I had moved to the narrow brick strip across the tracks from the station to record a northbound, led by CSX ES44DC 5395 and C40-8 7557. I was so absorbed in watching the train go by that I almost didn't notice the headlight bearing down from the opposite direction...
I moved over as far as I could without stepping into the road, re-leveled the tripod (or tried to, frantically) and braced as ES44DCs 5279 and 5467 blasted past with a matching southbound intermodal - no zoom-in needed, for sure. A string of empty Tropicana refrigerated cars hitched a ride on the rear of the southbound, returning to Florida for another load of OJ.
