On September 5, 2010, Shardul and Anika married on the Soka University campus in Aliso Viejo. We arrived at the Renaissance Hotel early in the morning, where Anika started her day. She wore a salmon colored lehnga encrusted with gold & red crystals. Her jewelry was nothing less than amazing, particularly her necklace which looked it it came straight from the movie Jodhaa Akbar. One of the greatest things that I loved about Anika on her wedding day was her infectious smile and ability to light up the room, making my job easy!
After Anika was finished getting ready, we headed to SOKA University where the wedding festivities would begin. When you arrive to the venue, there is this great view you have of the entire ceremony area. Just when I think I have seen the best that Smita Mohindra, from Ethnic Essence, can create, she topped it again. She blended orange and salmon colors together that gave this fun summer feel to the ceremony. Sunil Puri, from Pure Sound and Lighting, provided mobil music for the baraat, and did they have a blast dancing as they approached the ceremony area, this was a definitely fun crowd! Once the ceremony began, Dr. Shukavak, from Riverside Temple, one of my favorite pundits because he is always so kind and humorous to work with, gives the groom the option to leave the ceremony and lead a life as a Brahman and go to Varanasi, India. Luckily Shardul declined.
When Anika first hired us for her wedding, we had just started to offer the cinematic highlights shot on the Canon 5D Mark II camera. Once she saw the new style we were offering, she added it on! The same day edits are very popular with many of our clients, and one of our favorites edits to do. We shot everything from 6:45 am to 3:00 pm on 3 Canon 5D Mark II cameras, using a glidecam and slider. We edited all the footage from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and was it was ready to be shown at 8:15 pm for the grand entrance.
