woke up early, made this video. It's funny how disorganized my thoughts are, but yeah, it was early. I had a lot of trouble explaining the distinction between the mannequin place when I went there in real life (and it was too dark) and when I was there in a dream.

Wise Mr. Lodwick. The tragedy about celebrity is this...

No matter how much power, wealth, and adulation one can achieve the peace and freedom that come with anonymity might never be regained. What I have always found negative about notoriety is the obsessions folks can develop. It is terrible when people become objects of worship.

When posted on the internet videos and images go on and on and everyone here should be mindful of the dangers of becoming known to the larger world outside of the local associations we have.

This becomes particularly critical when you allow the eyes of so many people, who have given themselves over to a predatory and consumptive pattern of behavior, to see right into your home and watch your family where they live their lives.

This really freaked me out. Warning this is a little intence youtube.com/watch?v=nAq5aZSnf1k

noshoes, I bet you'd find this interesting:

    nymag.com/news/features/27341/index.html

"As younger people reveal their private lives on the Internet, the older generation looks on with alarm and misapprehension not seen since the early days of rock and roll. The future belongs to the uninhibited."

Jakob Lodwick and Caitlin Oppermann are featured in the article.
  • noshoes 3 years ago
This is a description of me in the article.

"For anyone over 30, this may be pretty hard to take. Perhaps you smell brimstone in the air, the sense of a devil%u2019s bargain: Is this what happens when we are all, eternally, onstage? "

Thank you for the link AA.
    I am cautious one.

noshoes, I'm not worried about anyone stalking me.
  • Charlie 3 years ago
Wow, thanks AA, that was very informative! I had no idea.
  • noshoes 3 years ago
Folks like you and I do not have a care in the world. Mostly because we are entirely undesirable let's hear it for being unacceptable to stalk!

We are foot loose and carefree. There is no one to be left orphaned and homeless or without a spouse if we were to drop from the face of the earth.

I suppose now I will have to hear from all the folks that take issue with Jakob being undesirable.

yay, awesome. i love how intimate these dream videos can be. you're describing your subconscious in a weird state of mind. very honest and sweet! try and make the next one from your bed cause i also think it's cool to pretend you're waking up next to the person making the video. i'm thinking of changing it from "Dream Project" to "Pillow Talk." wachu think?

    Inspirado!
    as the D says.
Providence, when I was there, in the eighties was one big empty backlot for strange dreams. I remember shooting a super 8 experiment (does anybody here rember vera Lynn... I mean Super 8)... I shot a strange felllow who would jump over the various fences and then spend twenty minutes berrating himself in the super ego voice of his parents... it took him an hour to go two blocks...

    good times that

it's strange to talk about dreams... i dream a lot, everyday, and most of the times i remember and has some sort of conection to my real life... sometimes things that hapened show up, sometimes things that i dream take place in real life...

Celebrities are sort of like dreams, in the sense that they only exist on a plane that we can't really communicate with. They keep us wondering and questioning...and being weird.

maybe thats a stretch - but hopefully you get the idea.
  • IM.beta 3 years ago
Celebrities are people who make awesome VIMEOs - but don't allow for you to leave comments OR worse... don't reply to comments you might leave. And/or check out YOUR vimeos in return.
  •
  • FuzzyDave 3 years ago
I too believe that celebrities exist on a different plane than we do.

That's why i hope to someday wear the skin of Emmanuel "Webster" Lewis. So that I may use it as Portal to Worlds Unknown.

that's right. celebrities are over-rated. friends are way better for inspiring creativity.

let's all join powers... with the advent of websites like vimeo (wayyyy different to youtube) - it brings forth a new era of anti-celebritarianism. in which, like you mentioned - people slowly begin to gain more interest in media-relationships that are 2-way.

right now it's easy for those of us that have no problem being video-recorded... now we just need to convince everyone that doesn't seem to keen on being in front of a camera. but hey... a lot of people didn't want a cel-phone 10 years ago.

Celebrities are afraid of other's creativity. Creativity in others threatens the Celebrity because it places him in jeopardy of obsolescence. Real people accept creativity as inspiration and more importantly as a source of joy.

I have to say that I feel weird posting vids of my baby, but the grandparents need a fix so I do it anyway. Still feels weird.

I dream a lot of the end of the world. Thanks to being a cold war kid i guess. The world is being transformed by alien vampires ala invasion of the body snatchers and I am the only one left to save the world. I have this dream all the time.

I had a very wild noah/flood dream last night. Giant intermittent waves of polluted water as big as a house...no warning.

i am new to the vimeo community. And that rant at the end pretty much summed up why i like vimeo over all the other sites i have seen or used.

I was thinking of trying to make a vlog based on waking up and describbing my dreams every day for a week or month or year. Not sure if i should follow through, not to original, but all these "bedhead" videos are all so funny, just proving to me its still a good idea

I remember doing this a couple times when I was in San Francisco. After a couple tries, you wake up and don't even realize that you had recorded something until you check it, and see this zombie-version of yourself talking about things you don't recall. Awesome.
