Svetlana Karpeeva, a 22-year-old Russian swimmer from Omsk, Siberia, will represent the Russian Federation in the 400 IM and 200 IM at the Olympics in Beijing. Karpeeva moved to Federal Way, Washington in January 2007 to train with the King Aquatic Club because "Americans are the fastest swimmers in the world," she said.
Karpeeva made the Russian Federation Olympic team by winning the 200 IM and placing second in the 400 IM at the Russian Olympic Trials on June 4, 2008.
The video includes an interview with Karpeeva and footage of her workouts in June 2007, one year before she would realize her lifelong dream of making the Olympic team.
