A pair of SD38-2 engines pull a manifest train north. Great sounding engine as it approaches.

I caught this same EJ&E unit a few days ago. So it's probably a consistent morning run for you folks wanting to catch a leading EJ&E while you still can.

In the far background of the approaching clip is Smith Road and "Pratt" the new control point on the CN Leithton sub. The going away shot shows Army Trail Road. And in the far distance is the area of the Leithton and Freeport subs connection. I believe that there is a defect detector at Army Trail Road. MP 33 or thereabouts?

This is shot from the newly opened Illinois Prairie Path overpass that is located a few hundred yards south of Army Trail Road. I hung out on the overpass for about an hour after toting about 30 pounds of gear up the trail. Determined to get this catch since it was a EJ&E in the lead even though it was a toward the sun shot.

However, I'll probably not try one from up there again. The overpass has about an eight foot fence on the edges with heavy chain link fencing obstructing the view. So you need to set cameras close to the fence and zoomed in to get a clear shot. Photos would be slightly easier. There is another trail that leads to area below here with pretty decent site-lines so that might be a better location.
