Nicely done Scott! Beautiful areas! Was that about a three month span on your timelapse?
  • Scott Klumb plus 1 year ago

Great work! Love how the mist ebbs and flows. Where in Colorado did you shoot this? Vail Pass?
  • Scott Klumb plus 1 year ago
In Colorado I filmed in Summit County, on top of Vail Pass, and throughout the Eagle Valley.

For a first camera I would probably suggest the Canon Rebel T2i. Its affordable and shoots great quality video. Lenses are easy to switch out and its great for shooting in low light. Only downside to it is its not as easy to zoom in and out of shots smoothly while filming. But that can also be a good thing so that you dont over use the zoom like so many people do.

I would also get an intervalometer for timelapse photography which makes it so you can set how many frames you want to have taken and how much time is in between each frame. SLR cameras are especially great for shooting stars and city lights.

And finally, a tripod with a fluid head or spring head. I prefer fluid, but either will do over the basic tripods you buy at a Best Buy or something. Fluid heads make it so you can pan and tilt the while filming to add smooth movement into your shots.

    Hope that helps.

Very beautiful views on snowy landscapes. The introductory images I like a lot, because of their romantic touch. The colorful buildings towards the end of the video though are breathtaking too.

Very well done - i was hooked from the first frame!

Some of this looks like Park City...

I do really like all of the clouds moving by, mountain views, etc. but I have to say you used your imagination well in capturing the stand of aspens, and the light playing across the trunks, and the closeups of the snow accumulating on the leaves!
    Cheers, Paul in Chicago

    Great work Scott!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm looking for a intervalometer, that works well in T2i. Could you please tell me what you used for these shots?

    thanks man
  • Scott Klumb plus 1 year ago
The intervalometer I use is the Satechi TR-A Timer Remote Control Shutter for Canon.

Great fun - I'm thinking there was a LOT of standing out in the snow and cold for hours to get this. Especially enjoyed the aspen shot at around 1:50...

Beautiful contrast between the dark landscapes and white wispy and/or moving clouds.

How did you keep the camera's batteries warm (& working) throughout the shots? Did you have a rain/snow cover over the camera as well?
  • Scott Klumb plus 1 year ago
The Pansonic HVX200 battery is still pretty long lasting in cold weather, and as for the timelapses shot with my SLR, I would go through 4 or 5 batteries switching them in and out.

Also taping handwarmers to the batteries helps.
