Well, I should do a little test with my new Aiptek PocketDV AHD300. But instead of that I bring you a man with no head walking around in the Berlin underground.
This video shows exactly what this small toy camera is for. Other than the Canon HV20 I can always keep the AHD300 in my trouser pocket. The handling is pretty much foolproof - pop up the LCD screen and the camera is. Press the button in front of the device, video is recorded on the memory card. In the menu you can choose the resolution from YouTube to BluRay, there aren´t many other options. The battery is charged via USB port, with the exception of an SDHC-card everything important is in the box, there is also a small bag and a protective cap for the optical parts.
The reviews on Amazon and Co are very mixed. Well, if you expect the quality of an HV20/30 for under 200$ (price of memory card included) this cam will be a huge disappointment. A fair comparison would be the quality of cameraphones, and in the category the PocketDV AHD300 is actually a pretty good deal. Just don´t be alienated by the color of the body, which could be described as dark-chocolate with a hint of metallic luster.
