Le Vegetable is a MUSICAL that Gilbert Martinez and I created for the Seattle True Independent Film Festival's Weekend Film Challenge in 2007. Our category was "Pretentious Art Film." In weekend film festivals, each team is given a category (such as science fiction, film noire, or western), a character name and occupation, a prop, and a line of dialogue that have to be used in the film. We have 48 hours to write a script, film it, do the music and video and sound editing, and end up with a finished movie. In this case, the category we drew was Incredibly Pretentious Art Film. The line of dialogue was "Just impeach the f*cker." The result, in this case, is the film you are about to see.
Nils Osmar wrote and edited Le Vegetable; Gilbert Martinez was the cinematographer, and did most of the directing; we co-produced and co-directed it. It stars some wonderful Seattle actors, Jay Irwin, Melissa Ausserer, Sheila Graves and Jennessa Richert. It features music by Dave Green, and sound work, ADR and foley by John Nold, Phil Thenstedt and Brad Laina. Special thanks also to Dave Ingraham, Don Richardson, Sheryl White, Daniel Helke and Thelma The Talking Carrot.
Enjoy the film! And think about Thelma's message to the universe :)
