I wanted to practice editing, so with Jakob's permission I did a short remix of his recent "Eric's new drum machine" video:
vimeo.com/clip:149449

This is the result. It's not perfect, but it's only for a bit of fun really.

Thanks to Eric for his cool sound effects, and Jakob for providing the original footage and of course giving his permission for me to remix it.

    awesome remix!

Thanks. If I had had more time/patience/skills, I would have made it longer, but I quite like it being short. Probably because I have quite a short attention span!

Oh well, it's too late now. It's a pity there's no way to undo your mistake...

Cool. Did you do that in iMovie?
  • Buck Flashroy 3 years ago
Windows Movie Maker - mainly because I know it better. It could have been done in iMovie in pretty much the same way. It's just a cut and paste job really.
  • Johann plus 3 years ago
Yes, but (at least in iMovie) it would have been a hell of a cut and paste job! How long did you work on this? From what I know about it, iMovie isn't really easy to use for cutting and splicing little bits. Or maybe there is a better way. I guess I should practice this on some clip as well.
  • Buck Flashroy 3 years ago
I don't think it would have been that hard in iMovie - possibly slightly easier than WMM. I think I did it in WMM because I found it easier getting the original file on the PC.

The only difficult thing is trying to get the timing right - but that would be the same no matter what program I did it in. I still haven't got it perfect, the ending is a little messy, but it's funny so I left it.

you should run the loop in the background while he does other FXs... :)
  • Buck Flashroy 3 years ago
I was thinking about that, but decided against it for two reasons:

    1) Because of the frame rate, where it's been chopped up makes it a few 10ths of a second out of time, so it wouldn't quite line up. I could get the audio chopped accurately, but then the video would be out-of-sync.

    2) I'm lazy and couldn't be bothered to do the extra work :P

I think you're right though, it would sound good with it in the background.

Someone should make one of those Flash-based "sound boards" of the Eric Lodwick drum machine.
  • Buck Flashroy 3 years ago
Si's good with Flash. However, Si also has a degree to finish.

You were definitely an inspiration. I loved your remix of Nick Gray's rap from years ago. I like to think that remixing has gone from being cool - to being old news - back round to being cool again. :P
