So I happened to pick up Erica's SLR and for half a second, as a lame joke, used it like a gun at Erica... next thing we know, we spent all day making this goofy video :)

It helps if you've seen 'A Clockwork Orange' and 'The Professional', but it's silly enough to be humorous either way.

I'm bummed because I forgot to have Erica say at the end, "never bring a point & shoot to a camera fight" :P which has nothing to do with those films, but it made us laugh.

So... hope you like it :) we had fun making it.

02:02 - 02:20 was too silly for words, and the shooting scene starting at 04:19 had me on the floor.

well done, mike and erica :)
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Yea, it's hard to tell in black and white :) but Erica has this giant foam hammer thing that is too much fun to bop people with, and it was her idea to swap it out with the loofah ;)

I'm happy it made you laugh :)
  • leslie 1 year ago
i was wondering what that thing was.

nice switch to chocolate milk at the end, btw.
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Ha ha :) I was waiting for someone to say something - we filmed all those shots with a glass of milk-milk, and then Erica was like, "I can't drink a whole tall glass of milk without chocolate" :P

  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Now we just have to make a sequel with you packing two 8mm's and a fake 'stache ;)

It was a blast to make - I'm glad you enjoyed it. beep boop beep.

    SO good. This really rocks.
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Thanks Greg - Erica is the one who does all the rocking in this video :) I think she had fun playing the bad ass.

    mr big stuff......oh yes!!!
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Hey 3d60 :) Yea, all day, when we were making it, I was like "what song should we use?"... I was checking out the Jackie Brown soundtrack :P

But we ran to GoodWill in the middle of the day and this was playing :) I love that song.

Very enjoyable. Nice work and good shooting.
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Hey Steve :) you know I always can't help myself in saying your name out loud when I see comments from you :P I'm always reminded of 'Arrested Development' (have you ever seen that show?)...

Thanks for saying you thought the shooting was good :) we tried.
  • Steve Holt 1 year ago
Sorry to say I've never seen Arrested Developement. It does seem that 100% of the people who have seen that show are Vimeo folks.
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
*gasp* Okay :) Last time I checked it was on Hulu for free - you should just watch the 1st episode... you won't be sorry.

    Funniest. Show. Ever.

flash is the first weapon you learn how to use, because it lets you keep your distance from the client. The closer you get to being a pro, the closer you can get to the client. macro shots, for example, is the last thing you learn.
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Oh my amazing :) I wish I could 'like' a comment - cause that was the best comment ever! Seriously, that made me smile so big.

I'm still laughing just thinking about it *sigh* good one, Sox :)
  • erica hampton 1 year ago
I'll make you a deal, Soxiam, you teach me this macro stuff and I'll do your laundry, clean your house, pick up groceries..etc....

    gah. this was fantastic-ness!
it made me belly laugh. hehe.
good work guys. i havent laughed that hard in a long time.

    p.s.:...i dont blame Erica for having fun being the bad ass. ;}
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Hey Alyss :) Thanks! Yay for belly-laughs *thumbs up* I'm very flattered.

Erica is super sweet - yet fantasizes constantly about kicking ass 300-style :P Maybe that will be our next video.
  • Alyss Black 1 year ago
    yes, hooray for belly laughs!

    that would be awesome! bwhaha. i look forward to more collaborations. ;}

haha -- for some reason i wanted to hear her say "i drink your milkshake" at the end.

looks like you guys had a lot of fun making this. :) that makes it fun for me.
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Oh man - if she could have drank that whole glass of milk and then said with a straight face "I drink your milkshake"... I would have died. My whole body was already going crazy trying to not make a sound, I've never had such a hard time not laughing...

It was a lot of fun to make :) I'm glad we got to.

Erica is ruthless with that camera. Must be that milk that keeps her going.
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Erica is very ruthless with her camera ;) which reminds me, I need to put some of her pics on here that she actually took when I was being "shot" :P
  •
  • Ayz Waraich 1 year ago
that rocked haha. the death was aces.

Btw, on a serious note -- some really nice "directing" ideas in there mike. be curious to see you do a narrative short for real.

Also it helped that erica looked a bit like what mathilda might grown up. i think we should declare this the unofficial official sequel to professional!
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Thanks Ayz! :) I wanted to color it like you did with your short - but we were lazy about the lighting and stuff :P so it would have taken me forever *and* looked terrible. So :) I made it black and white instead.

I'd love to do a narrative short - I have a few ideas jotted down somewhere, I just have so much to do with Pedal... hmm... damn ;)

I don't know if we're worthy to be the sequel to Leon :) that movie is so awesome... but I'll take it. Thanks.
  • Ayz Waraich 1 year ago
if you ever decide to do it, feel free to bounce ideas off me. think you would rock at it.
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
I would be more than happy to do that :)

awesome but you miss something little. doorbell like soundtrack (as in clockwork orange) :)
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Thanks Caner :) Oh no, is there a funny doorbell song in that scene, I should have looked first.

This was so fun to make...even though you made me get in and out of the elevator 20 times, and I ended up having to ride it down and back up again with a police man who seemed confused as to why my clothes didn't fit and I was carrying a stuffed giraffe.

    It was worth it:)
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
He he :) yes, yes I did. I need to work on my speed when it comes to pushing the elevator button *right* when the doors close, that's all :P

And that cop was probably in love with you... I'm sure he's thinking of you right now: the scantly dressed woman from the elevator *sigh*
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
PS - I can't believe you put that picture on here :P *shakes head*

  • Ashley Harrison 1 year ago
    This was hilarious!

I noticed a grainier (sp?) look when the camera was pointed at erica/into the light. But it was clear as day when it was pointed at you/with the light. What gives? Was that on purpose?
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Thanks Ashley :) No, not on purpose, we shot it quick so I had the camera just set on auto for things like gain and shutter speed *shrug* it's just how it happened :P
  • Ashley Harrison 1 year ago
When you are as good as you are EVERYTHING is dissected. So even if you didn't mean something all vimeors think you did. haha!
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
:P Ha ha - you're silly. I wish more people thought I was good at... more than a few things ;) *shrug*

    you guys are amazing!
how did erica drink all of that milk? was puking involved?
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Jami! :) Hey bff - I was sad you couldn't make it to the imax showing.

I'm glad you liked this - it was fun to make :) next time you'll have to be in our veedeohs.

I was pretty impressed with her about the milk :) she didn't puke or anything :P

Ahhhhhhhh that was so good. That was a great ending. I cant belive how many takes you must have done of her drinking milk. Wow! In my head that sounded funny, i dont know if it was.
  • erica hampton 1 year ago
:D Have Mike show you one of the outtakes of me drinking the milk. Actually, I wasn't drinking it ....eh....just ask him to show it to you one of these days.
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Yea :) I need to get to work on the blooper reel - "do I drink it"... that was humorous.

I love the professional reference with the milk at the end. The music and a couple of the shots remind me of Jackie Brown too. Miss you :)

p.s. - Erica... you killed my brother... now you must die!
  • mike ambs ☂ plus 1 year ago
Hey Nick :) Thanks - I thought you might like that. Yea, I totally ripped off that movie for this :P

Next video is an elaborate shoot out between the two of you.

    Thanks Rex :)

I like that part too - how she drank that whole glass without cracking up is beyond me... :P
