I'm at home sick today so in between watching the Olympics and resting I put together a quick video of my cats using the HV30+Brevis.

Gucci is a pure-bred Burmese. Hugo is a Siamese cross Birman.

They'll both be very happy when I'm back at the studio - they're not used to having humans at home during the day to interrupt their very busy schedules :)

Lenses used: 50mm 1.8, 60mm 2.8 Macro

Music: John Mayer "Say"

Proof of why HD + Vimeo = best thing ever! :D Very cute cats! I'm loving those macro shots, too. You seem to have a keen eye and a steady hand. Good work.

I have a question. I see quite a few people using lenses with their HV30s with these 35mm adaptors. Where can I purchase the 35mm adaptor required and what is the best one?

  • Matt E plus 1 year ago
Depends on what you're wanting to do with it. I'd suggest checking out all the big names - Brevis, Letus, Red Rock etc ... Also, Philip Bloom has some great info and reviews - philipbloom.co.uk - he's the man when it comes to 35mm adapters.

If you're using a HV30 I'd suggest looking at the Letus Mini. I went with the Brevis so I can use it with my A1 and my HV30.

Great shots - the "look" from the Brevis really makes it... not sure how you got the cats to pose - our cat (female) just runs away from the camera :-)
  • Matt E plus 1 year ago
Thanks Rick! I find it's best to catch them while they're sleeping and then annoy them a bit :)

I would have never thought of that - this is why Vimeo is so great! Thanks Matt

very nice video and results achieved with canon 60mm! Have this lenses myself and wonder what results will be when paired with sony ex-1 camera+SGpro 35mm adapter...After watching your video I'm ready to buy the SGpro... ;)

I have an HV30 on it's way to me right now, but I'm new to this, it's my first video camera. Your films are excellent. So can you point me in the direction of how to do focus pulls with this camera?

Yeah, I'm not just using the HV30 by itself but with a Brevis 35mm adapter.

    Sorry Matt, one big question...
Do you think its possible to have the same results as in your shots, with CANON HF100+LETUS MINI?
Or there is too many difference in HV30 and HF100?...
    Thanks a lot!
  • Matt E plus 11 months ago
Not sure. I've only ever used the HV30 and don't really know anything about the HF100. Sorry :(

which is best? Brevis36 or Letus35?
  • Matt E plus 11 months ago
Not sure. I've only ever used the Brevis. I like the look of the Letus Mini for use with the HV30 though.

Man, this is really beautiful! Can I just ask you one question. How do you get the colors like that? So bright, so vivid? I have a HV30 too but my footage looks like garbage compared to yours ;-)

    Cheers mate!
