The Institute’s Diversity of Italy seminar and tasting in London on 9 September 2010 was hosted in conjunction with the Istituto del Italiano Vino di Qualità Grandi Marchi (Istituto Grandi Marchi or IGM) and provided a topical insight into the wines of Italy. The seminar was addressed by Marchese Piero Antinori, Director of Marchesi Antinori and President of the IGM, Lynne Sherriff MW and David Gleave MW, while the tasting featured 49 wines from all 17 members of the IGM, including their latest releases and older vintages. Staged in the historic surroundings of Vintners’ Hall, the event attracted a capacity audience of 80 wine trade professionals, including almost 40 Masters of Wine. Many of the IGM members were also represented in person during the day, providing a unique opportunity for attendees to taste with the winemakers.
