I did enjoy this and you obviously put a lot of work into it. One bit of criticism I have though is the animation on humans seemed stiff and unnatural, but otherwise was excellent.

A deeply spirutal and beautiful film with the technical excellence and background score to follow it through. I really enjoyed this film, 'the world is our home' but sometimes we have no choice to fight a war. There are however many times when we do have a choice. Well done Daniel, it's an all time great and you are truly a creative master! :)

    Fantastic animation and score.
The story was told well, but I thought that the character design of Jim looked older than he sounded, like a deeper and more rugged voice.

I enjoyed your storytelling very much and loved your visual style. I agree war is awful but unfortunately (as was the case in WWII) sometimes it is unavoidable. If there are things worth living for, then there are things worth fighting for. Thanks for your work and your perspective.

Really well done. Overly sentimental and lacking a little understanding though. I think you chose the wrong conflict to have that story line. Iraq maybe WWII, no... Still, well done!

My favorite part by far were your choices when it came to the transitions between things like the letter and pictures. Very dynamic, kept the pacing active and lively so when you came back from the flashbacks into the action we were right there with him. Emotionally engaging. The blooms you have from strong back light sources, like the sun, are awesome - love the look. Also, your transparency's on windows/reflections is clean and crisp. Great. Finally, your selective focus and depth of field choices are awesome. Great work overal. What're the softwares you used?

Wow great film. As a huge WWII history buff I say I really enjoyed it. I loved your B-24 Liberator. Your eye for detail is truly stunning. I just finished reading John Steinbeck's "Bombs Away" so this was a great time to stumble onto this video. =)

Thanks Jeff. I was lucky enough to fly in a fully restored B-24 when I was doing research -- you can read all about it here:

So deeply emotionally moving. Watching this film evoked my own childhood memories of living in a then-recently closed internment camp for Japanese people outside of Roswell (NM), while my father was flying in the Berlin Airlift. I can remember the barbed wire fences that were still up, and the hospital wing that abutted our kitchen door. I wandered around inside it alone, as a 6-year old...the steel cots were still there, amidst the dust and blowing sand. No one would or could explain any of it to me, but even then it resounded with the echoes of "other voices, other rooms." Thanks for your beautiful work.

I just spent several weeks doing online training for After Effects and I have no understanding of how you accomplished this. Having jaw-dropping background art certainly helps. A discouragement to continue with my own short film right now because I could never get these kinds of results. Kudos though, it is beautiful.

    Michael --

Making a short film is a great way to learn AfterEffects. Keep plugging away, you'll get up to speed in no time.
