Dr. John A Berges
Department of Biological Sciences and School of Freshwater Sciences
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
Dr. Berges studies the planktonic environment, organisms in the upper part of the water column of Lake Michigan. After harvesting the organisms from the lake, they are grown and studied in controlled environments to determine how the presence of various nutrients influences their growth and distribution patterns. The goal is to create models that predict how these organisms are influenced, and in turn themselves influence, the ecosystem of Lake Michigan.
