Margaret Wilson remembers both the 1947 and 2007 floods. In 1947 her father was the headmaster of the local school. She remembers the bitter cold of the 1947 floods, and watching teachers skate on the thick ice in the parks. One memory is of the ducks pecking at top floor windows. Her father knew people in Deerhurst so she helped clean out one of the Deerhurst houses. Margaret recalled the stench and grime as they hosed and scrubbed the building down.
