Music for Autosonic Gongs by Jay Schwartz
1 year ago
Concert installation of a work for autosonic gongs by the American composer Jay Schwartz.
The gongs start vibrating without being touched, simply due to inaudible feedback from a microphone and loudspeaker positioned directly infront and behind the gongs. The resulting sounds are dramatic and wholly unexpected. The computer is only used to control the feedback, which always remains inaudible.
