In August of 2010, 33 daring cyclists from all over the world cycled up the Rhine River, passing through Germany, France and Switzerland on their way to the 2010 IPPNW World Congress in Basel. During the tour, they made their call for a Nuclear Weapons Free Europe heard, met with politicians, held public demonstrations and visited the last remaining nuclear weapons base in Germany in order to add their voices to the loud call for finally removing these remnants of the Cold War from Europe. More than 20 years after the fall of the Iron Curtain, young doctors and medical students from East and West, from the industrialized countries and from the Global South joined together once more for a bike tour against nuclear weapons.
