Summer Escape

Is a short film made by Joshua VP. The film was shot and edited during the summer of 2010. During the filming, four major mountain peaks were climbed, over 40,000 frames were snapped, and hundreds of hours of footage logged. It’s a combination of personal shots, client projects, and other random fun. 100% of the shots taken are from my Canon 7d and a good portion of the shots were taken on a custom built time lapse dolly we engineered. Please feel free to leave any comments, questions, or concerns about the film. Thank you very much for viewing and I hope you stop by and check out my work from time to time.

Great editing, interesting material, and super synchro with the music. That was a lot of work; you should be proud of it. I thought the dolly shot with the people working on the motorcycle was especially good, for reasons I can't explain. Cheers.

Felt the same way about that shot.

    Wow!.......Wow!
Trying to think of something a little more definitive then that but that's all that comes to mind.
Being a bit of an astronomy buff I love the scene at 1:08 where you can clearly see M-31, the Andromeda Galaxy rising.
The whole video was simply amazing.

I agree with the comments about the motorcycle scene. It fits perfectly with that section of the song, I love those lyrics. I have watched this several times and it seems to get better with each viewing.

The music you chose to edit to for this project is spot on, I am very impressed!

    Kudos.

I like that this is more than a compilation of timelapse footage.

2:14 - try auto WB next time. It processes well in RAW sequences in AE and solves temperature changes issues quite well.

I think you could put more attention to grading - could be cuter.

That particular shot I had my settings set to AV, Kelvin 5600, ISO of 100. I will try auto WB next time, thanks for the advice!

That video is awesome, Arches and Moab is such a unique place, I cannot wait to go back. The mt bike trail "Slick Rock" just about did me in too.

I did slickrock a few years back -- the deep sand in the last half was murder!

    That was awsome!

I liked the spicy mix of footage, but missed length on some of the shots, they were a bit short.

Really liked the shots from the carousel aswell!

Yeah, I am huge fan of editing to the beat, so sometimes I am cutting/speeding it up a lot - to match the tempo. Other times I just didn't get enough footage. I am still learning the dolly and how to manually slow the servo's down to a crawl. So, when I get that figured out. I will be able to get a lot longer shots. Thanks for the feedback!
