Malibu's new central park opened on 2 October 2010. Providing 17 acres of green open space in the heart of civic center, the park also serves another function: reducing stormwater run-off.
As an outdoor living learning center, Legacy Park will showcase five coastal habitats and feature native tree varieties such as California live oak, cottonwood and sycamore.
Funded through a public/private partnership, the $38 million park is "a central park, an oasis and an environmental cleaning machine."
