Great film. Perhaps a "natural" cinematic transition between imaginary and real world instead of a cut. Loved it.

Great Movie. The Storytelling and the Look is very well.
  •
  • I thought that was really cool, the range rover character was ace, I loved when his shirt button pops open! What did you shoot on?

Lovely! Love the camera moves! Bravo!
    Was 6:55 a digi-zoom out?
  • De Beeldbrigade plus 1 year ago
Haha, indeed it was, Joseph. Because of time constraints, we had to drop a few set-ups on the shot list. I figured on the spot that I could use the 4K mastershot and zoom out digitally in post to communicate more or less the same, making it seem like a tracking shot. Because the film uses slow-motion footage in 2K, the end product was going to be 2K anyway.

I had just applied the same technique in a commercial, but way more extreme:

great work! congratulations, the detail of the bottom is fantastic!! the script and the timing are very clever, the whole idea is great! congrats!

Did you ever thought about an alternative ending at 7:55? I know it will spoil the happy ending and maybe it is not the idea, but the concept of out of sync would be only between time and space, not about what is real and imagination... anyway awesome work! very good acting as well!
  • Peet Gelderblom plus 1 year ago
For me, it could only end the way it does, Luis. Not because I'm a sucker for happy endings, but because it would no longer be about what it is about.
  • Luis Soldevilla 1 year ago
completly right! Knew it wasnt´t the idea .. just wondering... amazing work anyway!

excellent. It's refreshing to see some media with a positive message about marriage. True, the husband is a little paranoid, but hopefully he can work on that.

Great pacing, and a good mix of seriousness and humor.

Or is this what happened? Maybe the lover scene happened the day before?
  • De Beeldbrigade plus 1 year ago
    Great interpretation, Austin!

Oh, I see--the filmmaker WANTS to encourage the idea of unfaithfulness and cheating! wonderful. I was so optimistic, yet so naive. sigh....
  • De Beeldbrigade plus 1 year ago
Not at all, Ross. I was just amused with the creative solution Austin came up with to connect the dots. Thanks for the compliments earlier.

Well done. I'm usually frown when I'm presented with Dutch movies. I'm not fond of the self indulging artistic stuff I usually see where directors think they're better than their viewers or fill every gap with dramatic music.
This short doesn't try to be smart, it is smart. I first thought "she is too hard on her husband, there is no love" but after viewing it made all sense.
The short doesn't require characters with lots of layers and luckily the director focused on plot instead of artificially creating these layers. The audio/video separation supports the plot very well.
Only (smallish) thing was I didn't always felt the music fit with the story, especially the ending, and sometimes the footage felt quite video-ish considering the equipment being used.
But hey, this honest, feel good short is really great and I hope to see more!
