Iantha Whittaker, longtime resident of South Miami, celebrated her first century on October 13th, 2010. Her four sons and one daughter traveled from various parts of the country to be with her. Aside from her wonderful family, music is the love of her life. She began playing the piano at an early age and taught piano up until several years ago. She has accompanied the choir of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Miami for many years and she still sings in the choir. Iantha swam her usual lap at famed Matheson Hammock Park and she received a special proclamation from South Miami Mayor Phillip Stoddard. After her long and fulfilled life, Iantha passed away on May 27, 2011, while visiting her family in Gainesville.
