Simulation of the formation of a Milky Way-like galaxy, as produced for a press release to accompany the publishing of a Letter to Nature by Andy Green, Karl Glazebrook and collaborators. Typhoon visualisation of this galaxy was used as cover art for Nature vol. 467.
Galaxy from the GIMIC simulations (Crain et al. 2009) and resimulated with the GIMIC/OWLS version of the TreePM/SPH simulation code Gadget3 (Springel 2005). Visualised by Rob Crain and Jim Geach.
