Very nice imagery. I think you're ready to upgrade to at least the 50mm 1.4. It's a much better built lens with a better focus ring.
  • Thank you very much Mr. Emm for the Advice. yes, i wanna get one soon. because 1.4 runs really great in low light than 1.8. also build quality. You are correct. . :)

    Hope you enjoyed.
Thank you very much . .

This was really nice! I just do not agree with emmagination.
I think you better upgrade to the Sigma 30mm 1.4 than the 50mm 1.4. Don't forget, you are walking with a crop sensor :)

Beautiful! You have chosen nice subject, "Mother". Canon these days is rocking!

Just question for you, why you showed three times fan? Any message behind that?

And very good music, do you think in some part an original sound would have given better effect, for example that machine's sound would have been good, just my thought.

Whose mother is she? She was so natural, any script given to her or just you shot as natural?

I am sure you remember me, right? You have commented on my this video:

    vimeo.com/8361152
  • Yep Kaushik. I can remember you and nice to hear that you enjoyed.

Fans showing 3 times, machine showing many time. there are soo many messages to audience, mainly for their deep thoughts. soo many people thinking on their way with difference. thats the change of this script.

Then the original sounds mixing is perfect for a this kinda movie. but mixing original sounds more little (i used for 2 shots only), it ll be perfect for mention living live things, Thats why i used to add little NAT sounds.

There are no big scripts, its one hour shoot. just shoot and edit . . Script only stayed in my mind.

Thats all. Thank you fr commenting Kaushik.

    Cheers . .

Stunningly good. This is so impressive, and for several reasons: the technical prowess of the filmmaker; the technical ability of the equipment; and the simple yet extremely clever way it's been out together.

Oh, and that 50mm 1.8 is VERY underrated and is more than good enough for HD video work.

    Well done!
  • Nice to hear from you Mr. Greg, and detailed response. Hope you enjoyed this short a lot.

    Very well done Amila.
How do you find focusing using the LCD screen, do you have an additional view finder?
I have added it to the World HD Channel.
    Cheers
    Paul
  • No Mr. Paul. i didn't use any external viewfinder or any external Follow focus kit. just done by my hand and shoot with standard LCD.

Thank you very much Mr. Paul also for add this video to that channel . .

    Have a great day . .:)

  • Nice one mate. The Bible calls us to honor our mothers and fathers and this is such a great reminder of how special our Moms are hey. And we tend to forget that too often. Great work.

Howz the 60D. I wanna get one as soon as money allows. Any overheating issues while shooting?
  • Thank you Beyond Measure Productions. 60D is great. Cant compare to the 5DmkII. but in video mode can be beat to the 7D.

No overheating issues there in my experience. last days i shoot above 1.45 hrs without switch off my camera. no any overheating warning apears and camera worked perfectly . .

    Thank you.

I loved this. Means a lot to me. So thank you for this video!

As for technical aspects, you did great with the 60D and the 50mm. I am wondering if you had a wide-angle lens, would you take any wide-angle shots? Lots of close-ups in this video and I thought that contributes to its strengths.

By the way, I was thinking this is professional quality so maybe one thing you can do is getting funds from kickstarter. for instance, register a follow-up project there, asking for maybe $1500 and state you will use the funds for camera equipment (such as a great 30mm, 35mm or 50mm lens, I recommend Zeiss 35mm ZE) and production costs. I think it will work quite well because the film's message is universal and people will be happy to contribute to your next film. You could register there with this video as an early taste of your next big project.
  • Thanx Heri, for enjoying my movie and sharing your ideas.

Yeah, all the movie done by60D and 50mm. all are closup shots, because it can be increase people's imaginations and i put that style to this movie.

And also my favorite primes are 50mm and 24mm one. and also planing to get the newest Canon 8-15mm ultra wide one.

yeah, Zeiss 35mm one is great and also the primes of Zeiss's.

Thanx again for you enjoying this short Heri . .

    Cheers . .

have you ever shot for a long time, in a hot environement ? have you experience overheating issues with the 60D yet ?
  • In my experience (My country is everytime Hot, that means its temperature level in 30-35 celcious) i didnt get any overheating problems, i shoot 1hr 45mins continously last week, but didnt get any overheating problem there. . .
  • vincent 1 year ago
Thank you Amila. I am often shooting in Senegal, where it can get very hot too. that's why i was asking.

    >planing to get the newest Canon 8-15mm
I tried this lens @ photokina i'd rather recommend not to buy it. Too expensive for just an effect that you ll be very quickly tired. You d also need a full sensor without factor magnification. 8-15mm goes on 5D or forget about it.

As the Eiffel tower impressive but ugly.Yes this lens is incredibly impressive but incredibly useless. For sure, get a 14 mm instead or invest in the zeiss 35 mm, the f/2 or the next one coming soon @t f/1.4 !
Zeis have more definition for the same price as canon one except they don't have any AF.
    Nice movie ;-)
  • Oh .Thanx for the info Serge,

so what you recommend for a ultra wide angle lens from below,
    Sigma 8-16mm
    Sigma 10-20mm
    Tokina 11-16mm
    Canon 10-20mm
    Samyang 8mm
  • Ian Nicholson 9 months ago
For price/capability, the Samyang 8mm offers great value! It is also sold under the brand names Rokinon and Vivitar, but it is exactly the same lens. It is completely manual (no autofocus).

Consider any Sigma prime lens too. I have a 50mm f1.4 and it is simply a beautiful lens that sucks in light.

I wondered if EOS5 mk2 and f1.4 was worth the price difference, but after seeing this I'd rather save my money and buy a f1.8 on an EOS 60. My Sony HDR-FX1 cost almost three times as much and the picture is nowhere near the eos 60. Thanks for the low light test, I wish it was in HD.

i truly love your imagery and your video is very subtle to what a mother is and what reminds us of that figure. I'm currently an inspiring indie filmmaker and I must say this excellent. Any tips would be greatly appreciated...
  • Cool, and nice to hear that you interested.
So ask anything what do you want to know?, i mean as you mentioned Tips . .

    cheers . .
  • Tyre Nobles 1 year ago
yea for starters, I have been contemplating on whether I should go with the T2i/or the 60d...Which ever choice, what lens do you recommend ?
  • No doubts, definitely go to 60D. it has lods of featurea and facilities than T2i. (for more info, check my reviews and tests and search the web)

    Get the lenses below i mentioned;

Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS USM II
    Canon 50mm f1.4
    Canon 2X extender
    Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro
    Tokina 11-16mm f2.8

After you buying those lenses with 60D, you will be an allrounder, not only Cinematography, and also photography . .

    Cheers . .

Wow thank you for your insight...I see the only lens in my budget is the canon 50mm 1.4 and the Tokina. So they will have to do thank you.
