Video recorded using direct audio out (rather than microphone and speaker/amp).

The sounds are produced by an electrochemical reaction between Aluminium, Copper and Salt water (NaCl), fed through a pre-amp after basic filtering via a capacitor and resistor.

The originally inspiration for the electrochemical synthesiser was the webpage "Peculiar Sounds of Aluminium" by Nyle Steiner. home.earthlink.net/~lenyr/alsounds.htm

Oh man, this is so much better. The sounds are incredible! The water-in-tube setup reminds me of the early computing done with mercury tubes. What sort of values did you use for the capacitors and resistors? (Presumably it's the same schematic per key as Steiner's original setup?)

Glitchtacular demo - one of the most original synths I've seen.

FYI - I put a link to this on Synthtopia:

    Thanks for sharing this!
