Heartwood
Heartwood was a poem written by my friend Jens Hieber and our latest visual poetry project. This time, I tried to do something different - stop motion! :)
It started with an idea of photos blending into moving pictures, then I wanted it scrunching up in time with the music before it would dance about the ground. It was later that I thought ah! stop motion could do this. Then when I did the music, there was the harp section where the image of scattering dried leaves just came to mind. So Glenn had an idea to use the blue screen for that.
Anyway, the result was... as posted :)
We had a lot of fun making this project - as you can probably see from the pics :) So I hope you enjoy watching it as well!

The bluescreen is just some blue material he bought cheap at a local craftshop haha... :p
By the way, the LCD hood is hand made too.. I posted a thread a while back about that too here - hv20.com/showthread.php?t=12606 It makes a HUGE difference in bright sunlight.
The shadows on the bluescreen were a bit of a problem though! Probably not the best idea but it's ok.
The Letus Extreme and Mini, along with a bunch of other brands of adapters such as the Brevis, RNG 35, Twoneil etc, are all vibrating adapters. So as a result you can't use high shutter speeds. I saw a clip a guy had done once using a Letus Mini with a high shutter speed, and it totally made a mess of things! The Letus Ultimate is a spinning adapter like the SG Pro so no problems with a higher shutter speed there either, but very expensive at around $5000. Judging by the look of all the videos I've seen shot on the Ultimate, I don't think the look is any better than the SG Pro. Redrock's M2 is another spinning adapter, but the SG Pro still has a nicer look. Mostly due to it's spinning ground glass.
Nice integration of the the bluescreen shots, well done.
Had to see it twice, once for the visuals, once for the words of Jens. Lydia, for your next poetry, try your voice :) see my tree... vimeo.com/1301538
How did you get 00:33?
Haha is Glenn famous for his annoying shaky shots, is he? ;) This tripod comment has come up before :D
Ah I have tried my voice on Escape but that one didn't seem to hit it off hehe I think my voice was disruptive :D
Ooo I will check your tree stuff :)
My idea is that I as a viewer, seeing two things at the same time is difficult, while beeing used to hear and see at the same time. You know the poem, I don't. But maybe it's just me. At least look for a good voice to give it a new try ;)
